VENEZUELA
Wow, what an experience!

Venezuela is our new favourite country in south america. Why?!

1. The people. We made awesome new friends which had a lot of interesting stories to tell.
2. The country it self. Venezuela has everything. High mountains, caribean sea, dessert, Highlands and "la gran sabana" with its Tapuis.

Well we arrived from the south in la gran sabana. This region is famous for the highest waterfall in the world (Salto Angel, which we didn't see) and for Mount Roraima which we saw from a distance. Because of the bad weather we decided to not climb it this time! :-)
But we have been at two super nice waterfalls. The first one, Qubrada Jaspe is red like fire. Incredible.
The second one was in a small jungle and we took a bath with the new friends we made. The water was ice cold and it was super refreshening after a hot day!

Then we took the bus to Caracas.
Caracas for us seemed to be a normal big city. Because we haven't been at the places where the people protest! Why protests?!
The actual politic situation is super horrible. They have an inflation rate of 500 percent! The companies stoped producing. In the supermarkets are almost all shelfs empty. :'(
The country is about to collapse! We wish the people we met all the best for a better future!

So, what is the cheapest Metro you ever took? For us it's Caracas.... 1 CENT for the both of us!!! Can you imagine?
We always took the Metro! Haha!

Next stop was Mérida. On the way we got into a military control. Every passenger needed to open ALL their bags.... took us around 1,5 to 2 hours....
Finally we arrived in Mérida and we love it. Beautiful mountain around where we did some daytrips (one failed because of a protest which we couln't pass).
Also we were lucky to be one of the first persons taking the brand new cable car up to Pico Espejo on around 4800 meter. 3 km altitude difference in 45 minutes makes you feel incredible dizzy!!!

After Mérida we went to Chichiriviche. Parque nacional Morrocoy.
The clearest water we have seen on our trip.

Wow. Paradise.
One day we did a tour to see different beaches. And the other day we met our friend we made in Mérida to enjoy a day at the beach drinking some beer in the water :-)

She also invited us to stay the night with her and her family. Thank you again for a wonderfull night (celebrating Colombias victory against Peru, playing Flip-Flop basketball, eating, chatting and laughing).

Our last night/day we spend with Natasha (our Couchsurfer in Caracas) at her beach house before we took the plane to Dominian Republic.8

Thanks to all the people helping us or enjoying the time with us. You have a beautiful country and we look foreward to visit you all again.

UPDATE
Since French Guyana we have been in Suriname which was a cool experience. We stayed few days in Paramaibo and New Nickerie. It felt strange because of the language (dutch) which is so similar to german but in South America! :-)
Suriname has an interesting cultural mix of ethnies.

Next country was Guiana. Where we only spend some days in Georgetown. Because we couldn't find a jungle lodge to work at...
Guiana is completly different again. Interesting to see as well.

After Guiana we entered Brasil again to spend two weeks with our lovely friend amanda. Thanks for everything you showed us and say hello to all the friends we met.
