BRAZIL
Hey everybody,
I know that it is already some weeks ago that I wrote the last time.
Now we left Brazil. After almost 3 months in a beautiful country with lovely people.
We started coming from Paraguay to see the Iguazu Waterfalls. Man that's a lot of water!!!! Puh!!! So after Taddy got attacked by a coati (we had something to eat and they wanted it!) we made beautiful pictures of this stunning nature wonder and got wet while standing almost unter the waterflow. Almost.... :-)

Next stop was Rio for Carneval. This is the craziest party. We had a lot of fun in the city and in sambadromo was awesome to see, yet not what we expected! Beautiful coulores and costumes. Also the cars are super! They work the whole year for ONE day. They spent thousands of Dollars for this! Great to see!

From Rio we got a super offer to fly to Recife which is far in the north. Some thousand kilometers....
Here we went to see beautiful Olinda with its multi coloured houses. As well we went to Porto do Gallinhas. A nice and famous beach! Recife itself is quite run down in the center and super chic on famous beachfront area. Interesting mix! :-)

Canoa Quebrada was very easy going. We had off season so it was calm and we liked it a lot.
Fortaleza for us was cool but its a huge city so we only spent three nights there and went on to Jijoca.

The beautiful place where you can lie in hammocks IN the water. There we were also celebrating our 2 years travel birthday! Woohoo!

Two years celebration...

Everybody told us you NEED to go to Jericoacoara. So we went. It was funny but it looks quite artificial and only build for tourists...

A place we really loved is Camocim. Ment to be only a one night stay we felt in love with this really authentic fisher town of Brazil and it's lovely people living there.

Because the bus connections on this part are really bad timed we needed to stay in Parnaiba as well. We've been there for the weekend. So we spent most time waiting for busses which go less frequently! :-) but also there is a nice beach where all the locals go to.

Sometimes you need to be lucky to meet the right people, telling you something. So we already read about Lencois Pequena but we didn't really know where it is. So our busdriver told us that it is 10 minutes walking distance from Paulino Neves. So we decided to stay there. Wow. We had one awesome sunset. I will never forget the play of coloures around us!
Finally we went to Barreirinhas to see the big Lencois Maranhenses. Wow. Incredible.
Ah sorry what is Lecois.... its a national park where you climb up a 60 meter sanddune out of the forest and on the other side there is only sand and lagoons but no forest. So incredible nature!!!

It was hard to say good bye to lencois, but we had a flight from Belem so we needed to go further. To Sao Luis. First it looks little dodgy but if you stay there you find the charme of the old part of the city. Here is also a center for arts and a lot of exhibitons are for free. Cool!

Belem was a great city to say good bye. We met a lot of locals with an open heart and had fun with them. Also Belem is a great place eating Shrimps! Half kilo is around 1 USD. Yummi!
All in all we had a great time in Brazil! Thanks a lot.

Now we are in the EU ;-)

Love you all

Patrick and Taddy
